Commercial Construction Black History Month Spotlight

Subira Brown is a rising change agent making a difference in the Baltimore City communities of Perkins, Somerset, and Oldtown (PSO). She currently serves as the Senior Project Manager with Urban Strategies, Inc. (USI). This national non-profit empowers residents in distressed urban core neighborhoods to lead stable and thriving lives.

Brown oversees the PSO Redevelopment Project in which Commercial Construction is participating as a general contractor. As part of the Choice Neighborhood Initiative grant, she leads a team that supports residents in education, health, economic mobility, and housing stabilization.

Brown leads workforce development and community events for PSO residents. For the second year, she co-led a community service partnership between USI and Commercial Group, this time to provide turkeys to residents for Thanksgiving. She is currently partnering with the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development and Commercial Construction on a Construction Training Resource Fair for residents in February 2022 and a job fair in the Spring of 2022.
