Commercial Interiors Wins Two Excellence in Construction Awards from ABC Greater Baltimore

The Associated Builders Congress of Greater Baltimore (ABC Baltimore) announced the 2021 Excellence in Construction Awards winners. Commercial Interiors received awards for Morgan State University’s Calvin & Tina Tyler Hall and Towson University’s New Science Complex.

Morgan State University’s Calvin & Tina Tyler Hall is a 139,000 square foot student center with a 3-story atrium and a 250-seat auditorium. It incorporates stone, metal panels, and glazing designed to maximize natural light and visual transparency. The building has achieved LEED Silver certification.

Towson University’s 316,000 square foot New Science Complex features 50 teaching laboratories, 30 research laboratories, and 50 classrooms. Commercial Interiors’ scope of work included drywall, acoustical insulation, acoustical ceilings, light gauge framing, carpentry, doors, frames, and hardware, an observatory dome, Exterior Insulation Finishing System (EIFS), and a fluid-applied air barrier. This facility is designed to achieve LEED Silver certification.

Commercial Interiors accepted their two Excellence in Construction Awards at an awards ceremony on September 29 at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel.
